Challenge Day 10

Day 10

"Behold you are handsome, my beloved! Yes, pleasant!..." Song of Solomon 1:16a

We all crave appreciation. We want to know that we are valued and loved. Early love letters probably reflected our admiration, but if we're not careful, our spouse will forget why we were drawn to him. If you still have any of your old love letters, re-read them for clues to deepen your current level of appreciation for your spouse.
"When we spend time criticizing our husbands, we lose time that could be spent admiring them. As you consider various ways to encourage your husband, ask, "How can I admire him?""
"Does your husband know that you think he is attractive? What was one of the characteristics in your husband that first drew you to him? Was it a physical characteristic, or something else?"
"Was it his gentle, compassionate eyes? Kindness or concern for others? An easy-going confidence? A steadiness that comes from trusting in the Lord? Strength of character in a culture that lacks integrity? Do you see at least a glimpse of that characteristic in him today? Whatever it is, tell him!"

Challenge Day 9

Day 9

"...be swift to hear, slow to speak..." James 1:19b

"We are often so busy speaking that we don't take time to listen. We are so quick to offer a comment - negative or positive - that we don't really "hear" our husband's heart. Remember: we have two ears and only one mouth. We need to listen more!"

"If listening is a real problem for you, play a game with yourself. See if you can listen to your husband for one whole day, only speaking when asked a question. If your husband notices the difference, explain that you are learning to listen more-not only to God, but also to him."

"One easy way to express admiration for your husband is to ask a question about something he enjoys, and then listen to his response. If it's an area of personal familiarity, keep asking questions until you learn something you didn't know, then tell him, "Wow, I didn't know that!""

Challenge Day 8

Day 8

"...but who can find a faithful man?" Prov. 20:6b

"Faithfulness is a wonderful but rare quality today, especially in regard to marriage. Do you understand how important this quality is? Your challenge is to continue to root out all negative speaking, and plant seeds of encouragement instead. You may be amazed at what will grow."
"Contemporary culture often entices men to be unfaithful to their wedding vows and spiritual commitments. Appreciate your husband's faithfulness - how he is loyal to you. Let him know that you are glad he has "stick-to-it-iveness" in your marriage. Appreciate his faithfulness to God."

Challenge Day 7

Day 7

"Do not overwork to be rich; because of your own understanding, cease!...for riches certainly make themselves wings..." Prov. 23:4-5

"That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, that I may fill their treasuries." Proverbs 8:21

"Money is the root of much marital discord. Ask yourself, "Am I being negative toward my husband in the area of finances?" Determine not to speak evil of your husband in this area. Discover ways to encourage and help him instead."
"Does your husband handle finances wisely? Does he make good financial investments, based on biblical principles? Does he have a budget? Does he make wise decisions about purchases - checking many sources before he buys? Is he a good steward of his money before the Lord? Let him know how much you appreciate his strengths in financial matters."
"If he is weak in this area, encourage any good decisions that he does make. Perhaps you can help him, if he's open to the idea, by organizing financial files or providing other practical assistance. Or, if he wants you to handle the finances, ask for his input before you make decisions that will affect him."

Grant, Academy Award, Edamame

Today I got to visit baby Grant and his momma Toni.  Toni is one of my best friends and Grant has been long awaited for.  It felt so good to see him and hold him and spend time with them.  You can just *feel* the love she has for him.  Not that any other mom doesn't love their child, but this is one we just didn't know if we would get.  She is truly blessed with such a handsome, healthy little man!

Perfect baby boy ♥

We decided he looks like his mama...

Lets hope he doesn't act like her too!  HAHA! j/k Toni!

Precious

During my visit, Grant initiated me.  Kind of like a glad-you're-my-aunt-here's-a-present type of initiation.  When I changed his diaper, I thought I was being slick by *covering* him up.  Instead, he decided he would be funny and poop everywhere.  NO.  Really.  Shooting poop everywhere!  He's quite the comedian.  Glad I love him!

After that little fun visit, I came home and spent time with my princess.  Y'all?  Seriously, I'm nominating my child for an Academy Award.  I've never seen such acting in all my life.  She can turn on the tears as fast as you can blink and in that same blink turn them back off and laugh.  She is a dag on hoot I tell ya.  Lord help me for the teenage years.  Y'all might have to come visit me in the loony bin!  HA!

Extreme change of subject....

I, as well as some other mommas, have been having some trouble getting the kiddos to eat veggies.  Mia will tear up some fruit and chicken and other healthy stuff, but greens just really aren't her thing.  However, I have found that she LOOOVVEESS Edamame, or soy beans.  They remind me of snap peas, kind of.  They are all natural and are a good source of protein.  They come in little individual steam bags and are perfect size for a healthy snack!

After I peel them

She approves and so do I!

Challenge Day 6

Day 6

"...whatever ye do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Cor. 10:31b

"Is your husband the "creative" type? Does he have any artistic gifts? What is that special "knack" he has? Affirm him for his handiwork - a hobby, music, gardening, tinkering with cars, working with wood, etc. Remember: Even if he doesn't measure up to your standards, praise his efforts."

"Make his day...Praise his accomplishments in public, while he is listening."

Days like these make me smile and sneeze :)

Spring has officially sprung around here, which means my allergies have as well!  I'm so thankful for this warmer, sunnier weather that I'll take the sneezes with the runny nose and itchy eyes all day long!

Today started out with a trip to the fake-and-bake tanning salon.  After a long winter, I am *pasty* white!  What else to accompany a warm glow than to get your hair done!

And that is just what I did!  An amazing 2 hours of mommy time!!

While I was getting pampered, my sweet husband was at home with our girl, making sure to get her a nap so that she would be in a good mood for me!  I am so thankful for him ♥

After nap time, Mia and I had a zoo date planned with Emily and Mikayla!  The weather was absolutely perfect for the zoo!

Mia and Mikayla

Watching the seals

Playing on the playground!

Slide!

Playing in the dafodils!

My opportunity for a photo op :)

As close to a smile as were gonna get!  She's a busy little girl!

My mini love ♥

The zoo worked up an appetite in us girls so we headed to Chick-fil-a for some yumminess and more play time!

Can you even go to Chick-fil-a without getting a banana pudding milkshake?  I think not!

I love days like today, sneezing or not!

Challenge Day 5

Day 5

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." Eph. 4:29

"Do you edify your husband before others, adding to his value in their eyes? This is especially important to other family members."
"Do you praise your husband to his relatives, and yours? Does your husband's mother know how much you love him? How about your dad? Perhaps you can drop a word of praise into a conversation or letter. Be creative in letting your relatives know that you respect your husband, love him, and support him - in spite of whatever flaws and weaknesses he may have."

Marvelous Monday :)

We had an awesome day today.  We started out by sleeping in, then lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant!

My little lady

And my man!

After lunch we came home, had a nap with the windows open and the breeze blowing in!  Ahhhh...  After the nap, Meme came to get us to do some running.  We had to stop at our favorite "bow ladys" house to stock Mia up on BIG bows, then had to take Uncle B to his orthodontist appointment.

On our way, saying "Cheeeeese"

Waiting for B, drinking some apple juice

drinking like a big girl

After those errands, we went back to Meme and Poppy's house, had dinner and a bath...

In the big jacuzzi tub!  (She hates the jets, BTW) Ha!

After our bath we went for a nice long walk and then Meme brought us home.  When we got home Meme gave Mia a back "tickle" and made her SUPER relaxed!  Finally, we had bedtime, with NO fight!  We had a great day!

OH, I forgot to post these the other day......

My diva

She wanted her Meme in her wagon with her!  HA :)

Challenge Day 2

How did day one go for you?  It was actually very easy for me.  Maybe it was because he didn't make me mad at all today, but that's beside the point!  HA!  I woke him up, gave him a hug, told him I loved him and that I was thankful that he chose me.  Not only did that make him feel good, but I felt good making him feel loved!

If you are following along, be sure to comment and let me know how it went for you.  What did you struggle with, what was easy, etc.

Are you ready for your next challenge?

Day 2

"...through love serve one another." Gal. 5:13b

Today, find some way that your husband is serving you or your family. Does he help around the house? Take care of the car? Fix things that are broken?
Maybe your husband's not a handyman, but does he run errands for you? Let you go first? Take care of you when you are sick? Help you make decisions?
Let him know that you see his unique service as a great strength.

30 Day Challenge

I've decided to do this "30 Day Husband Encouragement Challenge for Wives" over at http://www.reviveourhearts.com/   It kind of reminds me of the "Love Dare" but just for wives and is biblically based.  I love and appreciate my husband, but just like any married couple, we have our issues.  So this challenge is just for ME.  To make me stronger in my walk with God and stronger in the marriage He blessed me with.  I will start today, post how it went as well as post the next challenge tomorrow.

Day 1.

"The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." Prov. 31:11-12
* You can't say anything negative about your husband ...to your husband...or to anyone else, about your husband.

* Say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband...to your husband...and to someone else, about your husband!

Those of you who are around me, HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE.  Join me.

For others, join with me in this challenge!!

Who wants to do this with me?!  Nobody said it would be easy.  But it will be worth it!  If you want to take the challenge, just comment here on the blog and tell us about your day.  What you did, the struggles you had etc.  If you have a blog, LINK UP!  This shall be fun :)

Just today

On a lighter note, today was an absolutely beautiful day!  I was so glad to have the day off with my little bestie!  We hung out with daddy before he went to work then we were off to Wal Mart and Hobby Lobby.  We needed to get some envelopes for her birthday party invitations and some other decorations for her party.  By the way, here is what her invitation looks like...

How stinking cute is that?!

I have a pic of her outfit and cake too, but you'll just have to wait for that!  BUT, can you tell the theme?  Hot pink and zebra Minnie mouse!  She loves Minnie, but I had to spice it up and we all know how SASSY she is, so I thought this was PERFECT!

Can't wait to enjoy tomorrow!

Faces

I worked until 3 today and was absolutely exhausted.  This time change thing has affected me way more than Mia!  Therefore, my lack of motivation resulted in Mia and I having pizza for dinner and a little fun photo shoot.  This kid, I tell ya, has more personality than...well, just A LOT of personality! HA!  Here are some of her funny faces...

Bashful

Excited!

Laughing

saying "Cheeeese"

Goofy girl

Silly face again!

She threw a serious one in there! HA!

Haha!  I don't even know!

This girl cracks me up!

I'm off for the next few days, so we are going to be enjoying this beautiful 70 degree weather at the zoo, park and who knows where else!  Can't wait!

What do you do for fun with your kids?
